Show #33: Happy Birthday USA

logo

As any patriotic, burger eating, truck driving, beer drinking American, I get excited about the July 4th Bday bash. So I put together a little playlists honoring the planet’s favorite country ever (right?) and am feeling pretty proud to be from the great US and A. We had songs about America, some Americana and Heartland tunes, and even had the Star Spangled Banner. Just make sure you take off your hats when that plays, come on now, show some respect.

Show #30: The American Invasion

logo

The 30th show already? No clever theme related to that fine number, mainly because I’m not very clever. Still, we had a solid show with some epic artists, as we tackled The British Invasion. It was a weird phenomenon where British artists covered American artists, yet somehow these British artists still took America by storm. The white kids in the great US and A had no idea that the songs they were hearing from these bands “invading” the states were actually written and played by artists right in their own backyard. Of course many of these bands went on to reach legendary status like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who, they all came from one place: American music. USA! USA!

Keeping up with the Sigur Rós theme for the week, I decided it would be a dandy swell time to cruise through part of their setlist from the show in Broomfield, CO on 04/06/13. I recapped the review from yesterday and chatted about the band’s awesomeness, but didn’t attempt to pronounce anything in Icelandic. It’s probably better that way.

Show #20: Next To The Fire

logo

Today we’re going to crank up the speakers and jam loud and proud to the premium Modern Psych badasses, Quest For Fire. They’re from Canada, a place where everyone loves hockey. I can’t really think of anything else that happens up there, because  Americans only care about what’s happening in the great US and A. I do know that the band has sadly called it quits after six years of being awesome, and are due an honorable tribute here on TRR. It’s a real bummer when really good bands break up, because other “bands” still exist, like The Jonas Brothers.

The Gift Of Awesome

2 for 1

Tell me Planet Earth, what do we like? We like to save our hard earned dough and get deals. Being the cheapest person ever, I hear that loud and clear. So I thought I’d propose a deal to you, my listening and reading friends, with TRR’s very own 2 for 1.

I can’t save you money, because you can jam to these killer tunes for the price of on the  house. What I can do, is give you something more valuable: The Gift of Awesome.

What’s more awesome then getting some quality airtime and jamming to great tunes? Nothing, that’s what. So here’s the deal:

You follow my blog (1) and get one more person to follow the blog (2), then I’ll hook you up with a song of your choice on the TRR radio hour. I’ll even give you a shout-out over the airwaves to thank you for your support of this blog and weekly radio show, so you can be heard throughout the entire planet. Pretty cool, huh?
